Gaza City, September 9, 2024 — Israeli forces have bombed Gaza killing 61 Palestinians in the seventh day in the continued escalation of the conflict. The strikes which took place at night affected several areas within the highly populated strip inflicting mayhem on the residential places and exacerbating the humanitarian situation.
A spokesman for the health department in Gaza said that there are female and children among the killed and dozens of persons were injured. The airstrikes are component of a continuing military campaign that Israel claims is meant to weaken militants and respond to rockets launched from Gaza. But the increasing growth of civilians which are being killed and affected has attracted serious criticism with many international organizations urging the parties involved to observe ceasfire.
UN Faces Obstacles in Vaccination Efforts
As the violence persists the United Nations has been trying to make sure that key health priorities such as immunization are not affected. The strikes currently being conducted have adversely affected the delivery of life-saving vaccines by the UN especially to children in the Gaza Strip.
UN spokesperson Maria del Campo speaking to reporters said “This does not augur well for the already volatile situation in Syria”. ”We are trying to do everything to go ahead with the vaccination campaigns, but the increasing conflict is becoming very testing for our field workers,” she added. Del Campo encouraged both parties for the free-flowing of humanitarian operations.
Rising Tensions and Global Reactions
However, the recent fighting is a part of a prolonged conflict that has been affecting the region for rather a long time now. Relations between Israel and Hamas, the militant group in control of Gaza, have been escalating, which periodically causes outbreaks of violence. Alas, the latest strikes provoked boisterous reaction from Hamas that threatened to respond in kind, thereby amplifying the likelihood of the escalation process.
International counterparts have urged an end to the aggression as the United States of America, the European Union and some other Middle East countries called on both warring factions to go back to the drawing board.
